The Damage We Do....
This page is filled with burned drawings of a broad selection of life that is considered harmless by some and problematic by others. It depends on their location, their numbers, and what they are affecting. The common factor between them is their contact with humans, who have usually thoughtlessly or inadvertently moved them, putting them in conditions that has allowed their numbers to increase exponentially, which has then caused other creature’s numbers to decline in radical proportions.
The more I read, the more I realize we have no idea how what we do affects things on a larger scale. As I write this I can see a nest of carpenter bees has made a home in the kitchen window frame outside. A neat pile of sawdust sits there waiting for me to find a solution that does not involve killing the bees or getting stung. I don't know if killing that small nest of bees matters, but the mistakes we have made make me inclined to try and save them first.
